Director:
Peter Wood
Hometown: Owen Sound, Ontario
Peter
developed Hard Water Hockey
due to an obvious need for better hockey training, that is
more result oriented. Through his experiences of both playing
and teaching the game, he felt there was something critical
missing with the instruction formats that others offer. That
something is an ability to explain the "3 W's". It isn't enough
to simply instruct and then have players do drills.
|
|
"Players must develop an awareness and fundamental understanding
of When, Where and Why things happen on the ice". Peter feels
that this is the element, which allows a player to learn "the
game" and furthermore, retain much more of what they learn!
Kids in particular, learn by visually patterning themselves
after examples. However, at HWH
they develop higher retention rates by learning the principles
of the "3 W's" when applying both new and fundamental skills!
These ideals combined with the proper group of
professionals, are what separate Hard
Water Hockey from other programs, which typically
have kids "going through the motions." Through consistency of
this application and proper sequencing of drills, Hard
Water Hockey has become known as "the premier
learning experience for hockey players with goals of success!" |
